P&G aimed to hire female shop floor trainees at its Goa plant to recognize them as “saksham” — the Hindi word meaning “capable, competent.” This initiative pushed P&G to innovate by working with external government agencies, creating new talent management programs and reimagining operating strategies. Thanks to the “saksham” initiative, gender diversity at the site among trainees doubled from 7% to 15% within six months.
